Luxor Valley of the Queens Day Trip – Safaga

Luxor is famous for its pharaohs, but its queens have a valley of their own. This full-day trip from Safaga takes you there and to the great temples of ancient Thebes, which many call one of the world's greatest open-air museums. You can travel on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

We collect you at your hotel in Safaga in air-conditioned transport. On the way, your professional Egyptologist shares tales of the kings and queens who ruled here.

Karnak is the opening visit: a gigantic temple complex, among the largest religious sites in history, with massive columns and a sacred lake. Hatshepsut's temple follows, cut into the rock face at Deir el-Bahari.

Next you walk through the Valley of the Queens, the burial ground of royal wives and princes. Photos at the Colossi of Memnon and a panoramic drive around Luxor close the sightseeing.

Entry to Karnak, Hatshepsut Temple and the Valley of the Queens is covered, and a local restaurant serves your lunch. Lunch drinks and optional activities are extra, as are the tickets for some tombs.

Good to know: your passport and Egyptian visa are needed, along with walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Allow about 17 hours for the whole day, as you reach Safaga again in the evening. Pickup times differ by hotel, and yours is sent on WhatsApp or Telegram once you have booked.
