Luxor Valley of the Kings Day Trip – Safaga

Royal tombs cut deep into the rock, forests of stone columns and two giant statues: Luxor has it all. This full-day trip from Safaga brings you to the best of both Nile banks. You can go on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Air-conditioned transport collects you at your Safaga hotel. A professional Egyptologist travels with you and turns the history of the pharaohs into lively stories. The day lasts about 15 hours.

Karnak comes first. It ranks among the biggest temple complexes ever built, and its tall columns and sacred lake are hard to forget. The West Bank follows, with the temple of Queen Hatshepsut under the Deir el-Bahari cliffs.

Then you enter the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were laid to rest, and go inside its painted tombs. The Colossi of Memnon, two huge statues that are over 3,000 years old, make a fine photo stop, and a panoramic tour of Luxor rounds things off.

Entry to Karnak, Hatshepsut Temple and the Valley of the Kings is part of the trip, and so is a meal at a local restaurant. Optional tickets apply for the tombs of Tutankhamun and of Ramses V and VI, and lunch drinks are extra.
