Grand Egyptian Museum & Pyramids by Bus – Safaga

Old and new Egypt meet on this bus day from Safaga to Cairo: first a brand-new museum, then monuments that have stood for thousands of years. Departures are on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The bus stops at your hotel in Safaga, and from that moment a professional Egyptologist stays at your side until the end. Seats are air-conditioned, and the full program runs to about 18 hours.

Close to the Giza Plateau rises the Grand Egyptian Museum, or GEM. Its modern halls hold royal statues and the riches of the pharaohs, and it ranks among the great archaeological museums of the world.

A short ride brings you to the Great Pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Your guide shares the legends behind them, and there is time for photos. Lunch is served at a local restaurant, and a panoramic drive takes you through Cairo.

The GEM and Giza Pyramids area tickets plus lunch are part of what you book. Not part of it: going into the pyramids and the Nile boat trip.

Good to know: keep your passport and Egyptian visa with you, and dress in light, comfortable clothes with good shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Pack snacks and water for the long ride.
