Port Safaga sits on Egypt's Red Sea coast, about 53 km south of Hurghada, and keeps a small, easy-going tourist area. Divers come for the reefs and windsurfers for the wind; the town even hosted the Red Sea World Windsurfing Championships. Others come for therapeutic tourism. It is a place to slow down. The island and dolphin boats leave from the marina in Hurghada, north of Safaga, so your sea day begins with a drive to the boat.
