Mega Desert Safari: Quad, Buggy, Jeep & Camel – Soma Bay

Quad, buggy, Jeep and camel, all in one half day: guests from Soma Bay who cannot choose just one desert ride get the full mix on this mega safari, plus a visit to the Bedouins.

Departure is around 12:00, every day, and the outing lasts about 4 to 5 hours. An air-conditioned car fetches you at your Soma Bay hotel and brings you to the safari camp, where the team hands out safety gear and explains the rules.

Stage one is the quad. You steer an automatic bike for roughly 40 to 45 minutes across the sand, with the Red Sea Mountains rising behind. Stage two is a 15-minute spin in a dune buggy with two seats, a nice one to share with a partner or child.

Stage three is the 4x4 Jeep, which your guide drives further out into the desert.

The finish is a Bedouin village. Climb on a camel, drink a glass of Bedouin tea and try bread baked fresh on the spot. One water and one soft drink come with the trip, while more drinks, tips, photos and the goggles and scarf are extra.

Quad choice: single means a bike just for you. Double means two people on one bike, a good fit for a parent riding with a child.

Good to know: carry a passport or photo ID and wear closed shoes. Sunscreen, sunglasses and a dust scarf help a lot. Drivers must be old enough under the rules, and kids ride as the operator allows. You get the pickup time for your Soma Bay hotel on WhatsApp or Telegram after booking.
