Ancient Thebes once stood where Luxor is today. Your first visit is the Karnak Temple Complex, with its massive columns and wide courtyards.

Then comes Hatshepsut's temple below the Deir el-Bahari cliffs, a monument to one of the most remarkable women who ruled Egypt as pharaoh. In the Valley of the Queens, you see richly decorated tombs of queens, princes and other royals. Lunch at a local restaurant follows a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon.
