Luxor Valley of the Kings Day Trip – Soma Bay

This full-day excursion from Soma Bay takes you to Luxor, where ancient Thebes once stood. You can join on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and the day lasts around 15 hours.

Pickup is at your Soma Bay hotel. On the way and at every stop, a professional Egyptologist tells you about the pharaohs and their world, while you travel in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Karnak is your first stop. This vast temple area is among the biggest religious sites ever built, with forests of tall columns and a sacred lake. The temple of Queen Hatshepsut comes next, set at the foot of the Deir el-Bahari cliffs.

Across the river on the West Bank, the Valley of the Kings holds the tombs of the New Kingdom pharaohs, and you go inside its painted burial chambers. A photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two huge statues guarding Luxor for over 3,000 years, and a panoramic city tour round off the visits.

Entry to Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple is covered, and so is lunch in a local restaurant. Optional tickets are needed for Tutankhamun's tomb and the tomb of Ramses V and VI. Drinks at lunch, tips and personal spending are extra.

Practical tips: take your passport and Egyptian visa, good walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, as the visits involve moderate walking. You are back in Soma Bay by evening, and your pickup time is sent on WhatsApp or Telegram after booking.
