Mega Desert Safari: Quad, Buggy, Jeep & Camel – Makadi Bay

Want to fit the whole desert into one afternoon? This mega safari for guests in Makadi Bay combines a quad bike, a dune buggy, a 4x4 Jeep and a visit to a Bedouin village, all in roughly 4 to 5 hours.

We pick you up at your hotel in Makadi Bay in an air-conditioned vehicle and take you out to the safari station. The safari runs every day from about 12:00. Before you set off, you get a short safety talk and safety gear.

First comes the quad: roughly 40 to 45 minutes on an automatic bike across the sand, with the Red Sea Mountains above you. Next, you move to a dune buggy with two seats for a 15-minute ride, a favorite with couples and families. Then a 4x4 Jeep takes you deeper into the desert with your professional guide.

The last stop is a traditional Bedouin village. Ride a camel, then sit down for Bedouin tea and freshly baked bread. You also get one bottle of water and one soft drink. Not included: extra drinks, scarf and goggles, photos and tips.

Quad choice: with a single quad, you drive your own bike from start to finish; with a double quad, two guests share one bike, a good fit for 1 adult riding with 1 child.

Good to know: pack your passport or a photo ID, closed shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and a scarf to keep the dust off.
