Mega Desert Safari: Quad, Buggy, Jeep & Camel – Sahl Hasheesh

Quad, buggy, Jeep and camel: four rides packed into one afternoon. This mega safari is a strong choice for guests in Sahl Hasheesh who want lots of action but not a full day out.

An air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your hotel in Sahl Hasheesh. Every day, the safari begins at around 12:00, and you should plan around 4 to 5 hours for the trip. At the start point, the team explains the safety rules and hands out the equipment.

First you take the handlebars of an automatic quad for some 40 to 45 minutes, crossing the sand with the peaks of the Red Sea range in view. Then two of you sit side by side in a dune buggy for a 15-minute spin. Your guide then takes you further out by 4x4 Jeep.

The final stop is a Bedouin village. Climb onto a camel, then sit down for Bedouin tea served with bread baked fresh. One bottle of water and one soft drink are part of the trip; other drinks, photos, tips, and the scarf and goggles are not.

Two ways to ride: book a single quad to have a bike to yourself, or a double quad to share one bike between two, ideal for 1 adult with 1 child.

Good to know: a passport or photo ID is needed, and closed shoes are a must. Sunglasses, sunscreen and a scarf make the dusty ride more comfortable. Minimum age rules apply to drivers, and the operator decides how children may ride.
